  Activity and Sports Nutrition

A healthy diet is a must for anyone involved in moderate to high levels of physical activity.

Balancing carbohydrates for energy, protein for muscle strength and repair and the right types of fats will play an important role in helping to maintain a good foundation for health, energy and performance. On top of this we also require a balance of micronutrients, that is, vitamins and minerals, which will help to optimise recovery and repair of the body. High levels of physical activity or intensive training, whilst promoting good physical health, actually accelerates the body's production of free radicals which can speed up the process of ageing and muscle or joint degeneration. For this reason, superior levels of nutrition from both macro and micronutrients are required particularly a good blend of powerful antioxidants.

No top-class athlete can afford to ignore optimum nutrition.Capable of increasing speed, endurance and strength, the right diet and appropriate supplements can mean the diference between winning and losing.

Many people who regularly exercise are also conscious of weight. In an attempt to lose weight, food intake must often be reduced in order to reduce the overall daily calorie intake. A person's activity level must also often be increased to help ensure that the calories expended exceed the day's total calorie intake. But how much carbohydrate is still needed to meet training requirements without hindering weight loss efforts? How much protein is required to assist muscle growth before it is turned into fat only to slow weight loss? How can we ensure that even with a reduced intake we will be obtaining enough nutrients to sustain good health and even boost sports performance and recovery even with higher requirements from an increased activity level?
